This is a LONG list of instructions, please read it all carefully!
We are now less 2 weeks to go from the inaugural Taco Bell DC 50k. There are now over 900 people registered to run with us on Saturday, November 29th! There are people from over 25 states represented.
Important Updates:
We now have a Bakline tshirt available for sale, the link is now live and should stay open for quite a while after the race and 20% of the purchase price will go to charity: https://www.bakline.nyc/products/club-cotton-tee-str-tb50k
Thanks to Scott at Signs by Tomorrow, we now have bibs, signs, and awards for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and DFL.
The finishers items are all coming together nicely and think you will really like them!
Since it's the giving season, we are working to have a charitable partner. More details on that come!
Fun fact: If we have over 777 finishers, we would unofficially, be the largest unofficial ultra in the country: https://ultrarunning.com/calendar/stats/biggest-ultra-races
Things to bring with you on race day. Please bring these things to make the race go smoothly.
Pins for your bib, please bring 4 from an old bib or something.
A large ziplock bag to store your receipts and wrappers.
Download the Taco Bell app and add your payment method, this will save time and make ordering easier.
Key things to know about race day.
Pre-race:
Registration will open around 6:00am.
Please plan to arrive by 7:00am or a little earlier.
We will pass out bibs and check you in. Please bring 4 pins, so you can affix your bib to your clothes. We might not have bibs for everyone, if you don't get one that is ok.
TB DC 50k Taco Bell etiquette:
All Taco Bell locations are going to be extra busy on this day.
Wait times and delays are likely to occur.
First and foremost be patient and polite to all Taco Bell staff.
Please leave every location cleaner, than when you arrive.
For best chances of success and short waits, please use the Taco Bell app to order. All locations and your favorite items can be saved in advance in the app. It's highly recommend you do this Please test the app so you aren't trying to set it up on race day.
Race Start:
The race will start at 8:00am, at that time, when we announce the start of the race. At that time you will then consume your first food item and then start running.
Please have your food items and be ready to start eating and running at 8:00am. We will have to start this race on time, even if people are waiting on food. But don't worry too, the cutoff time of 11 hours is very generous!
Nutrition:
The first 3 stops will likely be the busiest, as the runners start to spread out.
We strongly recommend you order 3 Taco Bell items in advance. Friday, if possible, and bring them with you to the start line. I have tested this and it works fine. Just keep in refridgerater overnight.
You must consume one item per location before advancing to the next stop. The Taco Bell item must be eaten at Taco Bell and not while running between locations.
There are two required items, Please see the website for those 2 required items and when you must consume them by.
Feel free to customize any item to meet your preferred dietary needs/preferences.
Any food item, including side items are allowed.
You are NOT required to eat a different item at each stop, though this would be a fun way for you to complete the challenge.
Side items are allowed.
Drinks do not count as one of the nine required food options.
Food costs are obviosuly at the runner's own expense :)-use the Taco Bell app so you get those points.
Navigation:
Please note it is on you to navigate from one Taco Bell location to the other.
Taco Bell stores must be visited in the order they are presented on the website. This is very easy to do.
We have provided GPX, Strava, and Google Maps links on the website to each Taco Bell locations and the order.
That being said, you can use whatever route you want to get from locations 1-9, as long as you visit them in order.
Safety:
If you plan to finish after 4:00pm, please consider bringing a reflective vest and headlamp to night safety.
We remind you below of the disclaimers agreed to at registration.
